High-Speed Ticket Lawyer

Serving the entire state of New York

A NY speeding traffic ticket should not be taken lightly. Points on your license will result in fines and can result in an increase in your insurance premiums and the possible suspension or revocation of your driver’s license. A loss of license can mean you lose your job. Worse yet, are high-speed tickets which will cause higher point totals and higher insurance premiums.

A high-speed ticket can also trigger a Driver Assessment fee and an increased risk of license suspension. With legal representation, however, it may be possible to reduce the charge to a lesser speeding ticket, a non-moving violation, or get it dismissed. The Law Firm of Jonathan D. Katz Esq. can represent you with the goals of keeping your driving record as clean as possible, minimizing your points, and keeping you on the road

What is a high-speed ticket?

The New York Department of Motor Vehicles has a point system for motor vehicle violations.

Here is how New York assigns you points for speeding violations:

  • 1-10 miles per hour (mph) over the speed limit – 3 points
  • 11-20 mph over the speed limit – 4 points
  • 21-30 mph over the speed limit – 6 points
  • 31-40 mph over the speed limit – 8 points
  • Over 40 mph over the speed limit – 11 points

11 points in an 18 month period – If you accrue a total of 11 points during an 18-month period, your license will also be suspended and a Driver Assessment Fee will apply.
