What are some common repeat offenses?

Multiple speeding tickets – If you get three speeding tickets in an 18-month period, your license will be suspended for at least six months. The New York DMV will also add a $300 Driver Assessment fee when you get six points on your record plus another $75 for each point over 6.
Points – If your points total 11 during an 18-month period, your license will also be suspended and a Driver Assessment Fee will apply.
Multiple DUI offenses – Repeat offenses for Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI) offenses (drug or alcohol) carry increased jail time, increased fines, and increased penalties. Repeat DWAI offenders will need to use an interlock ignition device on their car. New York is also considering long waiting periods before repeat offenders can get their licenses restored.
CDL (Commercial Driving Licenses) – Your license will be suspended for at least one year for the most serious violations — many alcohol-related, crime-related, and other defined offenses. Repeat offenders will lose their CDL for life. For less serious traffic violations, repeat offenders will lose their license for 60 days for two offenses in a three-year period and 120 days for three offenses in the same time frame.
